What I'm talking about is taking a break away from the mundaness that one can be consumed by. A true escape whether it be mental or physical.
For me that escape comes from the experiences I have while traveling. In these moments I become a stranger, bask in the unknown, and meet some interesting people. I leave my inhibitions behind and fully embrace the experience however it may come.
I know this doesn't and cannot work for everyone, but I encourage you to pursue that passion that burns inside and turn that into reality.....let it be your escape.
Along with my ongoing travels, I was able to partake in a sort of four year sabbatical from the conventional life. See in the last four years I've been pursuing a higher education thanks to my G.I Bill. When I started this path, at first it's because I thought I had to, in the end it was because I wanted to.
Many people would often ask why I didn't get a second job. That way I could make even more money on top of my G.I Bill. Even back in these days before I had a passion, I was very adamant about using this time to escape. Escape from my previous life in the military, from the confines of the working world. I would use this time to focus on studies and spend it with my daughter. See the time I was able to spend with her far exceeds any money I could have made in that time, time which I will never get back and memories that will live on forever in my being.
Within that time I have also been studying things that bring me alive, material that fuels the soul, content which enriches your being. This course of studies wasn't something that would bring much wealth or a lucrative life, but then again that's not why I live my life.
For me life is about enrichment, intention, fulfillment.
This experience has had a lasting impact on my perspective and has really pushed me to pursue the life I want to live, and not the one I was told I had to.
Manifest your own Escape
An escape can be a good read, a new experience, an "adieu" to the conventional life. I come across many people stuck in the rat race that has become modern living. I see poor souls wishing for a better tomorrow, for an invigorating existence. Their stuck not knowing where to go, what to do.
Whenever I encounter these people I have very honest conversation with them. I ask simple questions because for me life can be as simple as we make it, these question often go like...
"What do you like?"
What is something you've always wanted to do?"
"Why do you do what you do?"
The responses vary, but the excuses are usually plentiful. This is when I encourage these people to ....GO !
Stop over analyzing, stop making excuses, stop watching your life pass you by.
If you've always wanted to travel the world -- Condition your life in manner that will make this feasible and just GO!
If you've always wanted to say goodbye to your conventional job, and become a pastry chef -- well then hone your talents and share them ....GO !
See this method can be applied to many of our desires, you just have to muster up the courage to stop allowing life to tell you what you have to do, and start telling it what your going to do !
The moment you can do that, everything will change !
For everyone to have an escape is vital. It can serve as a break from the routine, a new perspective, or an unexpected life path.
Invest in your escape, live the life you should !
