- As a baby instinct would drive you to cry for food
- As a toddler you would whine to get snacks
- As a kid you would try to coerce your parents for that toy you wanted
- As a teenager you would try to negotiate why you should have a tattoo, piercing, stay out late etc.
We have this ability to get what we want from very early on. For some reason or another as we grow into adults, and we enter the "real" world we begin to think some things, some situations, just aren't feasible anymore.
"I want to climb a mountain that no one has climbed before!"
" I would like to travel to every country in the world"
" I would like to pay off a huge amount of debt, and chase my dreams"
See this list & many other desires, dreams, aspirations seem to be unattainable. We believe our childhood fantasies don't exist in the "real" world. It was cool to dream as a child, but as an adult the dreaming ends, we have obligations, priorities, and commitments. We cannot simply just go do things that we want .
Well let me tell you one thing I have noticed, you can dream, you can have the things you want, your dreams can exist, and your wants can become reality. The only thing stopping you between those dreams, those wants, and those aspirations.....is quite simply......YOU.
Dreams don't fade, your imagination doesn't end, I'm sure there is one thing in your head that if I asked
"If you could realize one thing in your life, what would it be?"
I am positive that one thing, if not many, would come to mind. That inner child is still alive, no matter how far you have suppressed it. That former self still dreams of big things, still has quite the imagination, and can help guide you.
If you want something, then prepare to work for it. The dreams and so forth are the easy part; the working towards those dreams will separate those who really want it, from those who do not.
The "work" part of the journey will test you, bring you to the point of quitting, but in the end it will always be worth it.
Because doing something you set out to achieve, fighting to make it a reality, and then realizing it, that is one of the most rewarding things in life.
Don't accept what you don't want, believe in yourself, and work hard to get what you out of this one journey we're all on called life : )
