I recently came across a post about maintaining a positive vocab, it stated how a positive mindset, and set of words can help shape who you are.
In the not to recent past, I would always hear or read numerous friends, family and others posting status updates or saying things like:
" I wish I could do that"
"I wish I had more money so I could __x__"
"One day I will be able to do _x__"
"I can't do _x__ or _x__"
"_x__ is against me, I can't get no where"
"I wish I could be more like _x_ person"
"I can't wait until the weekend, my job sucks"
"Great I get to enjoy two days and then it's back to work"
and so on.....you get the point
Now I don't know if the people writing this actually realize what it is they're writing, perhaps they have just grown comfortable talking crappy about themselves and life?
but man is this depressing to read on status updates or hear even occasionally.
Don't get me wrong I've had my times when I believe things couldn't be worse, but you know what I also keep in the back of my mind, that things always get better..... if you want them to, and believe me you do have the control to do just that.
So thankfully Facebook has a feature in which you only receive the most important status or feed from your friends, After drowning in this misery of these words for months, one by one I started unsubscribing to this depressing talk, and started subscribing to things more positive, uplifting, inspiring, and just over all motivating.
Its been a couple of months now and this choice has benefited me tremendously, I wake up now anxious to see what new piece of wisdom I might receive, or what quote might inspire me for the day.
TAKE THE NEGATIVE OUT, PUT THE POSITIVE IN.....YOUR MOUTH/MIND
I know life is not all peachy, and sometimes things get tough, real tough. What I can tell you is drowning yourself even more with negative speak, is not only not going to help, it doesn't get you anywhere, perhaps you might feel self gratified in your gloom temporarily, but ultimately it does not amount to anything worthy for you or those surrounding you.
If you start feeding your great/powerful mind with positive thoughts/words like ....
"Today is going to be good"
"Tomorrow will be great"
"I am __x_ yrs young" ( a personal favorite)
and other such phrases, you'd be surprised how your outlook on your surroundings can change.
Sure people might look at you and say things like "Why the hell are you so happy", What is he/she on", "Wait, until something crappy happens to him/her"....What I want you to do is look at these people and Smile at them, Smile in your head, do whatever to let them know what they say or think doesn't effect you in one bit.
Why you might ask?
Because life is to short to be down all the time, be as happy as you can be on most days, and on other days remember that things are never truly as bad as they seem.
Life can be good most of the time if you allow it, you can start with words, then move to life actions, and continue from there.
So I dare you to try it, Next time you think of saying something to enforce your negative mood,
go the opposite way
and try to be a little more positive, you might be surprised with what happens !
